Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a technically skilled and solution-oriented Process Engineer to support and optimize manufacturing processes across our specialty chemical operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering foundation, a passion for continuous improvement, and the ability to apply technical expertise to improve safety, quality, productivity, and operational performance.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of engineering and manufacturing, solving complex process challenges, and collaborating with diverse teams to deliver sustainable improvements. You will play a critical role in supporting daily production operations while driving initiatives that improve efficiency, reliability, and product quality.

As a member of the Manufacturing Operations team, you will help ensure our processes remain safe, compliant, cost-effective, and capable of meeting evolving business and customer requirements.

What will you be doing?

 

  • Support Manufacturing Operations: Provide technical support to production teams to ensure safe, stable, and efficient manufacturing processes.
  • Optimize Process Performance: Analyze process data to identify opportunities for improving yield, throughput, quality, reliability, and cost performance.
  • Troubleshoot Process Issues: Investigate process upsets, quality deviations, and operational challenges to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Lead and support initiatives focused on process optimization, waste reduction, energy efficiency, and operational excellence.
  • Monitor Key Process Metrics: Track process performance indicators and use data to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.
  • Support New Product Introduction: Work with R&D, Quality, and Operations teams to successfully scale and commercialize new products and formulations.
  • Implement Process Changes: Develop and execute process improvements through structured change management and validation activities.
  • Promote Safety and Compliance: Ensure manufacturing processes comply with environmental, health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support Capital Projects: Contribute engineering expertise to equipment upgrades, plant expansions, debottlenecking projects, and process modifications.
  • Conduct Technical Investigations: Perform root cause analysis and process evaluations to improve plant reliability and product consistency.
  • Develop Process Documentation: Create and maintain operating procedures, process flow diagrams, work instructions, and technical reports.
  • Collaborate Across Functions: Partner with Maintenance, EHS, Quality, Supply Chain, and Engineering teams to support overall site performance.

What competencies will you need?

 

  • Process Engineering Knowledge: Strong understanding of chemical manufacturing processes, process optimization, mass balances, and process control principles.
  • Manufacturing Operations Understanding: Knowledge of production operations, plant systems, equipment performance, and continuous manufacturing processes.
  • Data Analysis Skills: Ability to interpret process data, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Problem-Solving Expertise: Experience using structured methodologies such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Analysis, and corrective action processes.
  • Continuous Improvement: Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and operational excellence methodologies.
  • Process Safety Awareness: Understanding of process safety management, risk assessments, management of change, and hazard analysis principles.
  • Project Management Skills: Ability to support and deliver process improvement and capital projects within agreed timelines and budgets.
  • Digital & Systems Proficiency: Experience with ERP systems, process control systems, manufacturing data platforms, and Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Technical Communication: Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to operators, engineers, managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively with operations, maintenance, quality, R&D, supply chain, and EHS teams.
  • Regulatory & Quality Knowledge: Understanding of quality standards, environmental regulations, and compliance requirements within a manufacturing environment.
