Multitrade Operative - InHouse maintenance and repairs

Who are we looking for?

What will you be doing?

Typical duties and responsibilities include:

• Carry out a wide range of planned and reactive maintenance tasks, including general building repairs, painting and decorating, basic plumbing, carpentry, tiling, paving, drainage, and external works.
• Maintain building structures, plumbing systems, and drainage, including repairs to WC systems, taps, and unblocking drains.
• Ensure high standards of water hygiene across site facilities.
• Undertake general facilities duties such as furniture assembly and removals, grounds maintenance, site clearance, and keeping communal areas clean and tidy.
• Inspect buildings and equipment for signs of wear or disrepair and carry out appropriate remedial work.Manage, clean, and maintain tools, equipment, parts, and materials required for maintenance activities.
• Accurately record work orders, maintenance logs, and stock levels.
• Support the daily separation of waste streams and assist with hazardous waste collections and transfer documentation.
• Ensure all waste is recycled or disposed of in line with current legislation.
• Supervise and coordinate external contractors on site, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and to a high standard.
• Ensure consistent application of health and safety policies, procedures, and site standards.
• Follow all Health & Safety requirements, including safe working at height and manual handling procedures.
• Prepare equipment and areas for refurbishment, deep cleaning, or surface treatment as required.

What competencies will you need?

• Proven experience in a multi‑trade maintenance, facilities, or building maintenance role.
• Practical experience carrying out basic plumbing, carpentry, painting and decorating, and general building repairs.
• Competent and confident in the safe use of hand and power tools.Good working knowledge of health and safety requirements within a facilities, industrial, or production environment.
• Ability to carry out planned and reactive maintenance tasks independently and to a high standard.
• Willingness and ability to work at height, in line with safety procedures.
• Basic IT skills, with the ability to complete maintenance records, work orders, and documentation accurately.
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage priorities and respond to changing demands.
• Good communication skills, with the confidence to work effectively with colleagues and external contractors.
• A proactive, flexible, and hands‑on approach, with a strong attention to detail.
