Who are we looking for?

The Purchasing Specialist assist the Senior Purchase specialist or (multi-site) Purchase manager in execution of the local, site specific purchase strategy. The role works with site management personnel as well as other stakeholders to implement purchase projects, and identify and drive other savings projects. The role includes purchase of goods, materials, and serivces to ensure site operational needs, taking into account purchase strategies, price, quality, and delivery to ensure continuity of supply.  In addition, assists in managing critical suppliers‘ relationship and interfaces between internal customers and suppliers. This includes assisting in improving supplier quality and resolve elevated sourcing issues. This role reports to the Senior Purchasing Specialist/(Multi) Site Purchasing Manager and works in close coordination with the Regional Sourcing Managers, as well as local Supply Chain.

What will you be doing?

  • Ensure Raw Material Supply Availability
    • Work with operations team on material purchasing plan to support production. Ensure continuous of material supply.
    • Process purchase orders.
    • Escalate material supply issue and work with the procurement team within region and globally on mitigating measures.
    • Provide material management data for review and feedback on potential improvement in material management process and planning.
  • Execution of the MAES Procurement Strategy at the Site Level:
    • Purchase goods, materials, components or services in line with specified sourcing strategy, cost, quality and deliver targets; assess tenders and quotations from potential suppliers.
    • Identify savings opportunities and drive projects in coordination with supervisor and sourcing managers.
    • Deliver briefs, updates and reports as and when required.
    • Provide feedback to regional purchase managers on sourcing strategies and develop ideas and strategies for improvements to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid in business performance and work towards continuous improvement.

 

  • Supply Base management:
    • Manage Local Suppliers
    • Identify, evaluate and implement opportunities which optimize costs at the site level
    • Ensure that contracts with regional and global vendors are actively managed in terms of commitment to terms, pricing, rebates, quantities, etc.; must assure contract periods are tracked and maintained.
    • Assist in negotiations for local contracts, improved prices and terms of business with local suppliers
    • Participate in local or regional contract negotiations, providing site specific input
    • Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issuess
    • Engage with suppliers to resolve elevated supply or quality issues, including assisting in resolving Supplier Corrective Action Reports (SCAR).
    • Maintain a record of purchase order related and other relevant documentation.

 

  • Other functions:
    • Interface with Site Operations, Quality, R&D, Product Marketing, and Supply Chain
    • Ensure compliance to company quidelines, purchasing policies, and Quality and EHS procedures
    • Support and participate in supplier audits to ensure compliance and minimize business risk, including supplier financial risk assessment and supplier business continuity plan.

What competencies will you need?

    • Possess strong purchasing experience of 1-3 years, preferably in a multi-national manufacturing setting; Chemical industry experience a plus
    • Possess minimum High School degree, with related experience; Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Finance, or related fields is a plus
    • Ability to contribute to strategic, long-term goals while achieving short term operational goals.
    • Work effectively across all functions in the Company.
    • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, as well as demonstrated strong interpersonal skills to communicate with all levels.
    • Negotiation skills and experience in establishing and maintaining influential relationships with suppliers is a plus.
    • Positive attitude, self-starter and proven ability to work in a team environment.
    • Accomplished Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills.  
    • Experience with SalesForce SRM, PowerBi, Team Guru, SAP and/or JDE a plus
