Job Purpose

The general purpose of this position includes the assembly of electrical components into a control panel for wastewater treatment systems. The position is responsible for the assembly of complex wiring layouts on electric units, the set-up of testing systems, and preparation of panels for shipment.

Job Responsibilities

• Follow written work instructions and complete required work in a quality manner.
• Interpret mechanical drawings to assemble company products.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues and electrical circuits.
• Build control panels from panel layout drawings and electrical schematics.
• Cut and fit conduit and other industrial wire ways.
• Interpret electrical schematics as required to wire company products.

• Inspect own work and the work of others.
• Maintain external customer quality expectations.
• Participate as an active team member.
• Willing to cross-train as required (i.e. fabrication, plumbing, etc.).
• Set-up and/or follow team schedules to ensure on-time deliveries, working closely with production scheduler.
• Take initiative to help prioritize workflow to ensure quality and on time delivery.
• Willing to work overtime when required to support customer demand.
• Train and assist others as required.

Requirements & Qualifications

• This position requires a minimum of a high school degree; and one plus years of related experience.   
• A two-year technical degree is desirable. 

Skills

• Possess basic to intermediate mechanical skills for measuring, cutting, and laying out panels.
• Ability to proficiently use measuring equipment preferred.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings with no assistance preferred.
• Preferred knowledge of power transmission components and best practice for assembly.
• General shop machinery knowledge and experience. (Hand Tools, Power Tools).
• Forklift experienced / certifiable.
• Ability to routinely lift 50 lbs. alone, and team lift heavier pieces.
• Develops effective relationships with team members.
• Independent and self-motivated to achieve goals.
• Individuals must be able to work with hand tools, read a tape measure, basic math skills, operate basic shop equipment.

Competencies

• Must be capable of reading basic drawings.
• This position must have the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English, as well have the ability to write simple correspondence in English.  The position must also have the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization in English.
