Who are we looking for?
As an Intern with McDermid Alpha Electronic Solutions you will support the Research and Developement team with general copper paste compaction operations and organizational tasks. You will learn about applications of copper solder paste, and how to process them. As well as assist in the development of QC process to help qualify our material and solidify a repeatable formulation process. In addition, you will work on various projects and initiatives that could impact the Business globally.

Specific Intern Duties & Responsibilities
- Sample Processing
- Prepping substrates for various copper heat press applications
- Fill and process PCB samples for applications such as coining, trenching, and microvias
- Post processing planarization and finishing of samples
- Sample Analysis
- Cross-section/ process samples for failure analysis (Keyence, SEM, X-ray ect)
- Porosity measurements of cross section SEM samples for paste and processing quality
- Measuring resistance on trenches, and vias for IACS calculations
- QC & Repeatability
- Assisting with high volume trench testing for qualifying processes/scale up repeatability
- Collecting and analyzing data for qualifying formulation repeatability
What competencies will you need?
- Bachelor’s degree (Completed or In-progress) in chemistry or chemical engineering or materials science.
- Local candidate to work an estimated 40 hours per week
- Some knowledge in electrochemistry is preferred.
- Formulations of wet chemicals, experience is preferred
- Sample Preparation
- Bench-Scale electroplating
- Interest in new plating technology and techniques and an on-going desire to learn.
- Ability to carry out tasks with some supervision.
- Ability to work safely in a chemical lab.
- Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, and report them clearly and concisely.
- Willingness to work in a team environment.
