Job Purpose

The successful candidate for the Chemical Engineer I position will work directly with other internal teams including  engineers and chemists , to complete projects in support of process and product development. The Chemical Engineer I will facilitate the development and launch of brand-new chemistries to support MacDermid Alpha’s high growth markets in the semiconductors business, specifically working on scaling up our Active Copper products.

Job Responsibilities

  • Makes and packages lab/pilot scale batches following instructions and safe lab practices
  • Operates related equipment involving in making products from lab to production scale.
  • Reviews orders including raw materials availability and plan accordingly to meet product ship date
  • Carries out experiments provided by project leader or manager.
  • Collects and consolidates data during experiments and effectively communicates results with key stakeholders and colleagues.
  • Conducts raw material and equipment evaluations and make recommendations to promote product quality and process safety and efficiency.
  • Supports the scaling of the production process from pilot to high volume manufacturing with activities including the development of robust manufacturing instructions, validation of full-scale batches, and training for manufacturing operators.
  • Conducts and manages shelf-life study and provides update to team.
  • Enters process and product waivers as required.
  • Manages equipment calibration record.
  • Operates equipment and follows procedures in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 standards. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree required in a STEM field, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience, 3 years preferred, of relevant manufacturing experience
  • Pilot production or scale up experience is preferred
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to interact effectively at all levels of the organization
