Who are we looking for?
MES is looking for someone who will be responsible for the project management and the complete design of the electrical and controls functions of new and retrofitted small to large sized industrial wastewater treatment systems for our customers. The Controls Specialist will be developing PLC/HMI programs, creating electrical drawings, and over-the-phone troubleshooting of control systems daily.
What will you be doing?
- Design PLC based control systems for new, or modify existing, wastewater treatment systems controls.
- Work with other specialist and manufacturing and electrical shop to ensure design intent is achieved
- Establish technical drawings, PLC memory maps, programming notes, etc.
- Manage individual project schedules and routinely report progress to the Controls Manager
- Interface over-the-phone with customers or with DMP service techs to resolve issues
- Occasionally travel to customer sites for design reviews, research, installation, and troubleshooting
- Ability to accept design feedback and improvement suggestions and brainstorm with others
- Adhere to good design and good documentation practices
- Adhere to specifications and authoritative bodies such as NEC, NEMA, UL
Who are You?
- Bachelor’s level degree is preferred but not required
- AS in EE, Automation, or Related Field or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design of industrial control systems and PLC programs
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
- English required. Spanish, German, or Italian would be a plus

- Knowledge of the specific industry, and product lines
- Experience in PLC Programming
- Experience in HMI Programming
- Experience in AutoCAD
- Mechanically inclined, strong problem-solving skills, hands-on individual
- Able to communicate effectively with customers and peers to execute project parameters
- Effective written, and verbal communication, both inside and outside the company
- Effective time-management skills, understand priorities and deliver on agreed goals
