Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a R&D Project Manager who will be based at our site located in Piscataway, NJ. We are searching for someone who will be working within a global team of R&D scientists and Applications Engineers and in coordination with Business Unit leaders, Sales and Development partners. The R&D Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing R&D and Applications Projects related to Semiconductor Assembly (SA) materials and deliver to internal and external customers high quality services within budget and defined plans.

What will you be doing?

  • Overall responsibility for planning and leading both internal and external projects related to the development of Polymer Protection and Thermal Interface Material Solutions.
  • Lead new project development projects across our global PPT laboratories.
  • Work on a global level with R&D Centres in US, Europe and Asia, to define, plan and execute projects.
  • Facilitate project meetings and provide timely status updates to management and relevant stakeholders on the project status, including budget, task completion, timeline, potential risks, and scope.
  • Carry out cost, time and resource planning for the projects, assess project risks and define countermeasures.
  • Exercise risk management and lead efforts to identify appropriate solutions to mitigate project impact/delays.
  • Proactively notify management of any issues, risks, or concerns.
  • Work with the global team of intracompany Project Managers to develop and maintain comprehensive portfolio management processes.
  • Work closely with R&D, Line of Business Project Managers, Product Managers, as well as Manufacturing and Quality to ensure continuous alignment and up to-date information flow.
  • Act as a mentor and empower local technical teams to employ effective project management practices themselves.

Who are You?

  • Proven experience of managing complex projects and be able to employ different management concepts such as Agile, Lean, Waterfall and others as needed. 
  • Relevant Project Management training (PMP/CSM/CPMP or similar) should be demonstrated. Experience in management of Technology-Oriented Projects and/or work experience in the field of Electronics.
  • Minimum Masters degree in an engineering (mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, materials science) or science fields (applied physics, chemistry).
  • Ph.D. is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of working in an industrial R&D environment.
  • Comprehensive computer skills including Microsoft Office, Excel, Visio, MS Projects and similar.
  • Willingness to occasionally travel and build strong international relationships, less than 15% for domestic and overseas.
  • Willingness and desire to dive into details with the team to understand the unique challenges the team may face during the product development process.
  • Willingness to join the team in person at the sites to walk through and lead the team in problem solving realtime, as the need arises.  
  • An understanding of the intricacies of technology development.
