Who are we looking for?

The Director, R&D Project Management will lead our New Product Development (NPD) teams across the globe, and will be responsible for overseeing the Project Portfolio across the Electronics business. The ideal candidate will have strong people management as well as technical skills across a wide breadth of our product lines. Adept at connecting the high level business objectives with individual project management disciplines, the Director will be a vital resource to ensuring the continued success of our R&D function. The preferred candidate will also be able to understand the technical roadmap, help coach other project managers, and develop a culture of continuous improvement while working with key technical business partners. 

What will you be doing?

  • Lead global team of New Product Development (NPD) Project Managers supporting five business units across the MAES organization
  • Develop best in class NPD project management processes, tools and systems
  • Continuously drive NPD efficiency to accelerate new product launches
  • Professionally develop the Project Managers, continuously improving skills and behaviors
  • Direct project management of selected critical NPDs:
  • Collaboratively develop project plans, status reports and risk mitigation plans with cross functional teams including R&D, Engineering, Product Line Management and Quality
  • Lead cross functional team meetings, facilitate communication and execution, work with managers to address bottlenecks and resource balancing issues
  • Champion R&D Continuous Improvement:
  • Develop tools & skillsets within the R&D Project Management teams that are best practice and translatable across business units
  • Encourage, cultivate, and grow a culture of Continuous Improvement within the R&D Project Management teams

Who are You?

  • Technical qualification in Science or Engineering at Bachelor Degree level is required; Masters and/or MBA desired, PMP qualifications are beneficial but not essential
  • Minimum of 5+ years of technical, R&D or Engineering experience required (e.g., R&D, design, product engineering, applications engineering, etc.).
  • Experience working in electronics or similar technical industry is preferred
  • 10+ years experience project management including planning, negotiating resources, driving projects forward, leading cross functional teams without direct line management authority
  • Extensive experience using stagegate processes in NPD, ideally developing and launching multiple products from advanced materials in a B2B environment
  • Experience in change management with demonstrated success
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Project Management systems

  • Experience in change management – Ability to implement and manage change successfully, showcasing adaptability and leadership in dynamic environments.
  • Written and verbal communication skills – Strong communication abilities critical for collaboration, presenting ideas, and conveying information effectively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Project Management systems – Technical competency in using tools for planning, execution, and documentation of projects.
