Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a highly experienced Director, Projects & Engineering to lead the delivery of our global capital project portfolio and provide strategic engineering leadership across the organization. This role is suited to a proven leader with deep experience in chemical or process industries who can balance technical excellence, capital discipline, safety, and business priorities.
You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to specification, while building strong engineering capabilities and standards across a global footprint.
What will you be doing?
Project & Capital Portfolio Leadership
- Own and govern the global capital project portfolio, from feasibility through execution and handover.
- Ensure robust project selection, prioritization, and stage‑gate governance aligned to business strategy.
- Provide executive oversight of major capital investments, expansions, debottlenecking initiatives, and sustainability projects.
Engineering Strategy & Standards
- Lead the development and application of global engineering standards, specifications, and best practices.
- Ensure consistent application of safety, quality, reliability, and sustainability principles across all projects and sites.
- Drive engineering excellence through standardization, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
Safety, Risk & Compliance
- Ensure all projects and engineering activities meet internal HSE standards and external regulatory requirements.
- Oversee process safety, risk management, and hazard analysis within capital projects.
- Act as a senior technical authority during audits, incident investigations, and regulatory interactions.
People & Organization Leadership
- Lead and develop global teams covering project management, engineering disciplines, and external partners.
- Build a strong pipeline of engineering and project talent through coaching, succession planning, and capability development.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and technical rigor.
Stakeholder & Partner Management
- Partner closely with Operations, Manufacturing, EHS, Procurement, Finance, and R&D to ensure project alignment and successful handover.
- Manage relationships with EPCs, engineering contractors, equipment suppliers, and consultants.
- Provide clear, data‑driven reporting and recommendations to executive leadership and governance boards.

What competencies will you need?
Technical & Engineering Competencies
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline; advanced degree preferred.
- Extensive experience leading capital projects in chemical, petrochemical, or process industries.
- Strong understanding of process engineering, mechanical, electrical, control systems, and utilities.
- Deep knowledge of project delivery models, EPC management, and capital cost control.
Leadership & Business Competencies
- Proven success leading large, global engineering or project organizations.
- Strong capital governance, portfolio management, and investment appraisal skills.
- Experience influencing executive‑level stakeholders and contributing to business strategy.
- Ability to manage complex risk profiles and make sound, timely decisions.

In addition, you will also receive a 401k plan with company matching, Life Insurance, and Medical Insurance as well as 9 holidays. The typical base salary range for this position is between $174,732 and $262,098. Our pay range is based on several factors which are considered when determining any base salary.
