Production Shift Leader

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for an experienced and proactive professional who takes ownership of the shift and leads by example on the shop floor. In this role, you coordinate, supervise, and actively participate in the production of semi-finished and finished products, while effectively managing and motivating all operators on shift. You continuously strive to optimize processes in a safe and efficient manner and take an active role in identifying and handling (customer) complaints, always with a focus on quality and improvement.

What will you be doing?

  • Coordinate, supervise and actively support production processes during your shift, ensuring safe operations, target achievement, on-time delivery and correct quality registration
  • Lead, coach and motivate operators, manage shift handovers, vacation planning, training actions, skills matrix and PE assessments to ensure continuity
  • Prepare and execute production activities, including work orders, raw materials, alloy calculations, melting processes and the production of billets, strip material and other semi-finished or special products
  • Create samples, monitor accurate stock and production data entry, and ensure compliance with OH&S, safety and environmental regulations
  • Identify, resolve and help prevent malfunctions and production issues, and drive continuous improvement in collaboration with Process Engineering
  • Support the investigation and resolution of customer complaints (CC) and internal non-conformities (NCMR)
  • Analyze operational performance, propose and implement improvements, follow up on actions from TIER meetings and review work processes
  • Perform additional operational tasks such as operating a forklift, maintaining a clean workplace and carrying out daily machine maintenance

Who are You?

  • You have an MBO (BBL level 2) / VAPRO A level of working and thinking
  • You bring experience in a production or manufacturing environment
  • You have basic Excel skills for reporting and registrations
  • You are Green Belt (Six Sigma) certified and familiar with continuous improvement principles
  • You have knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) fundamentals
  • You are a certified forklift driver
  • You understand production processes, organizational goals and operational performance targets
  • You have knowledge of materials and alloy compositions, including calculating and creating the correct alloys
  • You are familiar with quality systems, safety (ARBO / OH&S) and environmental requirements within industrial processes
  • You are a hands-on professional who feels comfortable working directly on the shop floor

  • Analytical skills to monitor processes, identify deviations and support continuous improvement
  • Technical aptitude to operate machines, tools and production equipment safely and effectively
  • Manual dexterity and accuracy in handling machines, tools and forklift operations
  • A structured and organized way of working, ensuring compliance with standards and procedures
  • Good communication skills to ensure smooth shift handovers and collaboration with colleagues and engineers
  • A proactive and responsible mindset with a strong focus on safety, quality and efficiency
