Who are we looking for?
Technical Specialists in the Application Development Center of Excellence are responsible for contributing expertise, knowledge, and investigative capabilities to Application Development projects assigned to them by the Group Manager. They will work in their area of highest technical competence, but will be encouraged to expand their technical capabilities into the products and processes of other LOBs as well.
Their responsibilities will depend on the nature of the projects on which they work:
- For projects lead by a regional App Development need, the Global Technical Specialist will act in a supporting role for the Regional Project Leader. This will include:
- doing background research on the need, seeking any prior solutions to similar situations, including fundamental background relevant to the problem.
- interfacing with R&D (if needed) to identify key knowledge relevant to the project and an opinion on the feasibility or difficulty of the application development request
- Providing assistance with experimental design, data collection, data analysis, and presentation.
- For projects lead by the App Dev CoE, the Tech Specialist will act as the Project Leader, recruiting team members, organizing the project plan, liaising with any external project participants, and generally guiding the team to designated project milestones. This would include beta testing programs, where the App Dev CoE will help run beta trials of new products with the regional teams and deliver feedback to R&D on the processes’ performance against designated metrics and value propositions. The App Dev CoE will be expected to collaborate with relevant Regional Application Development personnel on producing a beta testing report that will be used in the Stage-Gate commercialization decision.
When necessary, the App Dev CoE will be pulled into technical troubleshooting processes in the regions when difficulty, resource constraints, or unusual stressors dictate an ‘all hands on deck’ approach.
What will you be doing?
- Active participation in the Global Application Development process. This includes documentation of all technical work, providing data analysis and technical documentation needed in the region to achieve closure of Opportunities.
- Technical Specialists will be expected to document instances in which Application Development is insufficient to achieve the desired technical outcome and proposing the project for consideration by the Product Group. This includes a documentation package, quantitative project objectives, hierarchy of customer needs, and gaps that could not be filled by Application Development.
- Coordination between Regional App Dev groups and R&D on new product development programs nearing beta testing to ensure rapid progress into field testing.
- Facilitation of beta stage new product testing with Regional Application Development groups and product documentation to support new product launches. This may include interfacing with any OEMs, Tiers, or key customers required to qualify the new product for their use.
- The Technical Specialist must appropriate safeguard MEIS proprietary information against inadvertent disclosure, and must be aware of any restrictions, sensitivities, or limitations specific to specific customers with whom they work.
