Job Purpose

To provide supply chain finance support for the manufacturing facility and its leadership team and also the wider ESI finance organization (FP&A / Accounting / Commercial Finance). First point of contact for all site related supply chain activities such as cost accounting and site reporting. Working closely with site leaders and site leadership teams on all site related financial matters.

The position reports to the Finance Director Supply Chain EMEA but may also take direction from site leaders when appropriate. 

The position will be located at Langenfeld, Germany. Will also provide support to other Chemical manufacturing sites in Germany (Solingen and Guetersloh). Occasional (potentially overnight) travel to Guetersloh will be required. 

During an initial period (6 months) this position should be providing in addition direct support to the Cluster Senior Finance Manager, based in Langenfeld, on effective Finance partnership by ensuring compliance and manage risk, in addition to deliver financial commitment for entities under scope.

Job Responsibilities

  • Monthly KPI preparation and analysis. Reporting to the site leader.
  • Freight costs analysis: reviewing expense trends, identification  and cost improvement initiatives.
  • Support the site team with Capital requests and financial modelling requirements
  • Prepare cost estimates for new items.
  • Calculate labour and overhead rates for the annual update and load into the accounting systems.
  • Respond to ad hoc costing requests from commercial  teams.
  • Analysis of Inventory: reviewing trends, DII metrics.
  • Oversee the annual stock count.
  • Manage and run the cost roll up process.
  • Calculate the required freight accruals and inventory provision in accordance with regional guidelines.
  • Perform variance analysis on site costs 
  • Prepare and submit in the systems the forecasts and budgets 

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Analytical: Collects and researches data; Designs workflows and procedures; Understanding and familiarity with various financial statement preparations.
  • Able to adapt to changes in a fast-paced environment and implement changes quickly and accurately.
  • Able to articulate complex financial matters to provide clarity to non-finance colleagues.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Should have at least 8 years’ experience in finance or accounting.
  • Exposure / understanding / direct work experience of manufacturing accounting principles.
  • Fluent in German and English.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Working knowledge of PowerBI and Hyperion Enterprise (HFM, Planning and Essbase) is beneficial.
  • SAP/ JD Edwards systems knowledge would be an advantage.
  • Experience in the chemical manufacturing industry a plus.

    • Participate in ERP / process standardization initiatives and ERP upgrade activities.
    • Compliance responsibility with SOX controls relating to supply chain finance as required.
    • Respond to an internal / external audit requests relating to supply chain finance.
    • Manage and oversee intercompany transactions: responding to ad-hoc queries in relation to intercompany prices.
    • Assist the Finance Director Supply Chain EMEA on any region wide reporting and improvement initiatives as required
