MacDermid Enthone Industrial Solutions operates as a business of Element Solutions Inc (NYSE: ESI). Element Solutions Inc is a leading specialty chemicals company whose businesses supply a broad range of solutions that enhance the products people use every day.
MacDermid Enthone Industrial Solutions is a global supplier of industrial metal and plastic finishing chemistries. We primarily design and manufacture chemical systems that protect and decorate surfaces. Our high-performance functional coatings improve resistance to wear and tear, such as hard chrome plating of shock absorbers for cars, or provide corrosion resistance for appliance parts. Our decorative performance coatings apply finishes for parts in various end markets such as automotive interiors or jewelry surfaces. As part of our broader sustainable solutions platform, we also provide both chemistry and equipment for turnkey wastewater treatment, and recycle and reuse solutions. Our industrial customer base is highly diverse and includes customers in the following end markets: appliances and electronics; automotive parts; industrial parts; plumbing goods; construction equipment; and transportation equipment.
We strive to embody the five 'Elements of our Culture'- our '5C's'; Challenge, Commit, Collaborate, Choose, and Care. These core values are the foundation of our organization which our employees embrace in their interactions with customers, colleagues and other stakeholders, to drive financial performance and create a rewarding work environment.
Who are we looking for?
This role can be based in Germany, Italy, France, UK, Hungary, and Spain.
The Statistical Design & Analysis (SDA) Experts in the Application Development Center of Excellence are responsible for contributing expertise, knowledge, and investigative capabilities to Application Development projects assigned to them by the Group Manager. In particular, the SDA Experts are expected to bring statistical tools to bear on projects and problems that the group is working on.
Their SDA Expert will assist App Dev Technical Experts and Regional Application Development teams in designing experimental plans to probe process landscapes, identify the most stable operating conditions, quantitatively identify the most important process variables for complex, multi-step processes. Although structured experimental programs are most preferred, there will be times when SDA Experts will be asked to sort through unstructured data to find issues or suggest the most rapid means of returning to process stability.
Because the knowledge generated by statistical investigations will be used to train, persuade, and drive change both internally (regional Tech Service and App Dev) and externally (at customers and sometimes at customers’ customers), an ability to generate concise, informative, and convincing data visualizations, and explain them, will be an important capability.
What will you be doing?
- Active participation in the Global Application Development process. This includes documentation of all technical work, providing data analysis and technical documentation needed in the region to achieve closure of Opportunities.
- SDA Experts will support Technical Specialists in documenting instances in which Application Development is insufficient to achieve the desired technical outcome and proposing the project for consideration by the Product Group. This includes a documentation package, quantitative project objectives, hierarchy of customer needs, and gaps that could not be filled by Application Development.
- Coordination between Regional App Dev groups and R&D on new product development programs nearing beta testing to ensure rapid progress into field testing.
- Facilitation of beta stage new product testing with Regional Application Development groups and product documentation to support new product launches.
- The SDA Expert must always appropriately safeguard MEIS proprietary information against inadvertent disclosure, and must be aware of any restrictions, sensitivities, or limitations specific to specific customers with whom they work.
- Create and maintain technical training materials for internal use by Sales, Technical Service, and Marketing personnel.
Who are You?
You will thrive in this position if you are:
- Analytical and systems‑minded—you enjoy solving multifactor problems and finding clarity in complex data.
- Collaborative—you build trust with scientists and engineers and enjoy coaching others.
- Curious and innovative—you stay current with new statistical methods and digital tools.
- Communicative—you can translate statistical insights into clear recommendations and narratives.
- Structured and detail‑oriented—you ensure methodological rigour and accuracy in all analyses.
- Adaptable—you work well with shifting priorities and diverse project types.
- Proactive—you anticipate analytical needs and propose smarter ways of working.
What competencies will you need?
- Technical degree in Chemistry, Material Science, or Physics strongly preferred. Relevant experience in the electroplating or related industry is highly desirable.
- Advanced knowledge of statistical methods for experimental design, data mining, significance testing, and presentation skills, with the ability to represent MacDermid Enthone positively and effectively through written and presented materials.
- Six Sigma Black Belt or similar certification is highly desirable.
- Hands-on technical service experience in electroplating and associated chemical processes is desired. Will need to be able to work in our pilot lines and in production environments at customers when needed.
- Functional spoken and written English. Multilingual capability is a major advantage.
- Good to excellent PC skills, esp Microsoft Office products.
- Knowledge of at least one advanced statistical package (Minitab, JMP, Design-Expert) is required.
- The ability to visually represent quantitative data in a concise, informative manner that explains what is known (and not known) about system is important.
- Project management & intercultural cooperation skills
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and globally (Travel may exceed 25% on occasion)
