Who are we looking for?
The Machinist will Analyze specifications, lay out and perform all bench and machine operations to construct, alter, and repair tools and dies requiring skill and a basic knowledge of tooling practice and application. They will use required precision instruments for exacting measurements.
What will you be doing?
The machinist will fabricate tools, dies, or assemblies, one must begin by studying blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan the sequence of operations. This involves visualizing and computing dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of assemblies based on the provided specifications. The process includes setting up and operating conventional or computer numerically controlled machine tools—such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders—to shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes. Once fabrication is complete, dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts are verified for conformance using measuring instruments like calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators. Test runs are conducted with complete tools or dies to ensure parts meet specifications, with adjustments made as necessary. Additionally, collaboration with Production and Engineering teams is essential to help set up dies and reduce setup time on the production floor.
