Who are we looking for?
What will you be doing?
- Manage and respond to internal and external customer inquiries related to Japan and global chemical regulations, including chemical inventories and compliance requirements.
- Conduct regulatory due diligence to ensure products comply with Japanese regulations for both imports into Japan and exports from Japan.
- Prepare and submit new chemical registrations to the appropriate Japanese government platforms.
- Ensure Japan GHS‑compliant Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for Japan‑manufactured or imported products are accurate, up to date, and aligned with local regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with the SDS authoring team to implement updates to Japan SDS in accordance with evolving regulations.
- Track, monitor, and interpret updates to Japan chemical regulations, standards, and reporting requirements, and assess their impact on company products.
- Communicate regulatory impacts and compliance updates to Japan business teams and other internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with regional and global regulatory colleagues on product regulatory matters related to Japan.
- Work closely with Product Managers and the Commercial Team to support customer surveys, regulatory assessments, and chemical substance-related enquiries.
- Support the Asia Regulatory Team in addressing broader global chemical compliance inquiries and integration initiatives.
Who are You?
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or technical discipline, such as Biochemistry, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering.
- Proficiency in Japanese and English (reading, writing, and speaking).
- Well-verse in Japan regulations like Fire Service Law, Industrial Safety and Health Law (ISHL), Poisonous and Deleterious Substances Control Law (PDSCL), Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (PRTR) etc.
- Strong understanding of global chemical inventories and related industry regulations.
- Familiarity with Japan’s chemical registration requirements is highly desirable.
- Good knowledge of GHS regulations in Japan and other Asian countries.
- Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in a similar role.
