Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a proactive and experienced QHSE Manager to join our team at an upper tier SEVESO manufacturing plant and lead QHSE functions to ensure our products consistently meet internal standards, customer expectations, and regulatory requirements whilst maintaining a safe working environment that meets all local authority legal requirements. This role is ideal for someone who combines technical expertise with strong leadership and a passion for continuous improvement.

You will be responsible for overseeing the Quality, Safety & Environment Management Systems, Quality Control team, driving compliance and fostering a culture of quality and safety across the organization.

 

What will you be doing?

  • Maintain and improve management systems: Oversee the Quality, Safety & Environment Management Systems, internal & external audits and document control processes.
  • Lead the Quality functions: Manage the Quality Control team and assurance activities across the manufacturing site ensuring alignment with global standards.
  • Ensure regulatory and legal compliance: Monitor adherence to industry regulations (e.g., REACH, ISO, GMP), support external audits and inspections; manage environmental permitting, compliance reporting, external complaints, and waste management in accordance with local and national regulations.
  • Promote a positive safety culture: Oversee and monitor H&S processes in line with SEVESO and legal requirements including risk management, accident investigation and emergency planning.
  • Drive root cause analysis and CAPAs: Lead investigations into QHSE issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally: Work with Manufacturing, R&D, Supply Chain and Commercial teams to ensure QHSE is embedded throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Monitor performance: Track and report on QHSE KPIs, trends, and improvement initiatives.
  • Support customer satisfaction: Address customer complaints, ensure timely resolution and maintain strong relationships with key accounts.
  • Promote continuous improvement: Champion Lean, 5S, Six Sigma, KPI tracking, training & development and reduction of complaints and recordable incidents.

What competencies will you need?

Essential:

  • Education & Experience: Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field. At least 7 years’ experience in a QHSE role within a high risk industry or at an upper tier SEVESO/COMAH site.
  • Certifications & Training: NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety and/or Environmental Management or equivalent (IEMA), SEVESO III / 12th BImSchV specialist training, hazardous substances & TRGS/ATEX training HAZOP, LOPA, process safety competence. Quality Management (QMF/QMA/QMB-TüV).
  • Management Systems Expertise: Strong knowledge of management systems, standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 140001) and methodologies (FMEA, Risk Assessments, 8D etc) .
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with DIN standards, chemical industry regulations, compliance frameworks and German authorities.
  • Language & Communication: Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills (written and spoken) in both German and English.
  • Problem-Solving Ability: Skilled in root cause analysis, risk assessment and CAPA implementation.
  • Data & Systems Proficiency: Comfortable with management systems, statistical analysis tools, reporting platforms – SAP S4 HANA, Power BI, Microsoft Office, Excel.
  • Auditing: Experience as an ISO 9001 / 45001 Lead or Internal Auditor.

Desirable:

  • Certifications & Training: Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit (Sifa), Brandschutzbeauftragter.
  • Customer Focus: Ability to manage customer complaints and ensure satisfaction through quality assurance.
  • Project Management: Capable of leading improvement projects and managing timelines, priorities and resources.
  • Leadership Skills: Experience managing teams and influencing cross-functional stakeholders.

Supervisor Responsibilities 

  • Quality Control: (One or more QC technicians).
