Who are we looking for?
The strategic focus of this position is to work in the Scale Up Laboratory to promote efficient product scale-ups and support continuous improvement projects. This position will be working between Global Engineering and the R&D and Supply Chain functions. The primary purpose of this position is to provide support to the Scale-Up Lab by supervision and performing various quality control functions as it relates to the final product and the laboratory equipment.
What will you be doing?
- Ensure all required tests in support of the Scale-Up lab are accurately completed in a timely manner and that the test results meet defined specifications.
- Supervise or perform testing for the batches that allows to understand characteristics and cause-effects of the product and process.
- Evaluate data and draft reports, noting any relevant deviations from existing standards.
- Follow appropriate material test methods.
- Prepare and maintain test data for review.
- Schedule aging studies and report the data generated.
- Develop and maintain inspection reports.
- Support the ISO Management Systems and Safety Systems
- Maintain calibration of quality control equipment
- Maintain raw material storage area to include review and reporting of inventory levels, labeling, utilization of proper storage procedures, etc.
- Perform 5S auditing of lab area and report results on a regular basis.
- Assist with and oversee the storing and disposing of testing materials according to the internal procedures.
- Work closely with the Scale up team to work on batch making and troubleshooting as required.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, as well as company standards and specifications.
- Identify areas for quality control improvement and implement new methods accordingly.
- Communicate any quality or compliance concerns with urgency
- Maintain good housekeeping and safety practices
Who are You?
- BS in Chemical Engineer/Chemistry & >7 years of relevant experience or MS & >3 years of relevant experience
- Effective level of exposure and training in Continuous Improvement Methodology, similar to the Green Belt as provided in Six Sigma
- Thorough engineering and application knowledge and can develop structure property relationships
- Solid understanding of key plant processes at primary manufacturing locations experience is preferable
