SDS Author

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented SDS Author with 3–5 years of hands-on experience who can independently author complete Safety Data Sheets (SDS) in compliance with Japan and other applicable Asia regional regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate is a self-sufficient SDS author with strong knowledge of Japan and Asia GHS requirements, chemical regulations, and transport classifications, and proven ability to translate complex chemical, hazard and regulatory data into accurate and compliant SDS documents.

This role requires an individual who can take full ownership of the SDS authoring process - from data evaluation and hazard classification to final document completion in SAP (or equivalent SDS authoring software) - while ensuring regulatory accuracy, consistency, and high quality across all SDS sections.

The successful candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently while collaborating effectively with Asia and global cross-functional teams to maintain compliance with evolving chemical regulations across Japan and the Asia region.

What will you be doing?

• Independently author, review, update, and maintain Japanese and other Asia regional GHS SDSs in compliance with applicable country-specific regulatory requirements.
•  Author and maintain SDSs for other Asian countries, ensuring compliance with applicable:
  o    Country-specific GHS requirements
  o    Chemical inventory and substance control requirements
  o    Hazard communication requirements
  o    Other relevant local chemical regulations

•    Evaluate chemical composition, physical and chemical properties, toxicological and ecotoxicological data, and other relevant technical information to determine appropriate hazard classifications and SDS content.

•    Ensure appropriate transport classifications, including UN, IMDG, IATA, ADR, and other applicable regional transport requirements, and ensure alignment between transport classifications and SDS content.

•    Ensure consistency, accuracy, completeness, and quality of SDS content across the assigned product portfolio.

•    Monitor regulatory changes in Japan and other Asia countries and proactively implement mandatory updates to SDSs and related hazard communication documentation.

•    Support the preparation of development product SDSs for R&D and new product development projects.

•    Work closely with Regulatory, R&D, Product Management, Commercial, Operations, and other cross-functional teams to obtain and evaluate the information required for SDS authoring.

•    Provide technical and regulatory support by responding to inquiries related to SDS content.

•    Collaborate with Asia and global regulatory colleagues to resolve complex SDS, hazard classification, chemical regulatory, and product compliance issues.

•    Support continuous improvement of SDS authoring processes, templates, data quality, and regulatory compliance practices.

Who are You?

•    Bachelor’s degree in scientific or technical discipline, such as Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
•    Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant hands-on experience in SDS authoring product stewardship, chemical regulatory compliance, or a similar role.
•    Strong knowledge of Japanese and Asian chemical regulations.
•    Good understanding of GHS and hazard communication requirements in Japan and other Asia countries.
•    Good understanding of chemical classification principles, including physical, health, and environmental hazards.
•    Knowledge of transport classification requirements, including UN, IMDG, IATA, ADR, and other applicable transport regulations.
•    Proven ability to interpret complex chemical, toxicological, physical, and regulatory information and translate it into accurate and compliant SDSs.
•    Experience using SAP or other SDS authoring and chemical regulatory management systems is preferred.
