Who are we looking for?

The R&D Engineer III will provide technical leadership for pilot plant operations, process optimization, and scale-up activities to support R&D and new product development programs.

This role is responsible for planning and executing experimental campaigns, troubleshooting process and equipment issues, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, reliability, efficiency, and product quality.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with R&D, Engineering, Quality, and Operations teams to translate laboratory innovations into scalable manufacturing processes.

The role will also supervise and mentor junior engineers and technicians, evaluate new technologies and equipment, and contribute to the long-term development of pilot plant capabilities and operational excellence.

What will you be doing?

  • Lead pilot plant operations, process optimization, and scale-up activities in collaboration with cross-functional teams to support R&D, product development, and project execution.
  • Support Technical Scientists and project leaders in designing and executing experimental campaigns and DOE studies, while providing technical leadership in process monitoring, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and data interpretation.
  • Apply principles of chemical reaction thermodynamics, kinetics, and reaction engineering to optimize processes and enable successful scale-up.
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technicians in day-to-day pilot plant operations and experimental execution.
  • Analyse process data to improve safety, quality, throughput, and operational efficiency, while developing and maintaining process control strategies, operating procedures, and ISO-compliant documentation.
  • Support process development, scale-up, and technology transfer from laboratory through pilot plant to manufacturing, including experimental execution, data analysis, technical reporting, and communication of recommendations to project teams and leadership.
  • Manage pilot plant assets, resources, and operations, including equipment expansion, installation, commissioning, maintenance, reliability improvement, inventory management, and material flow, while implementing new technologies and automation solutions to enhance operational readiness and plant capabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with EHS, quality, and regulatory requirements while fostering a strong safety culture.
