Who are we looking for?
The R&D Engineer II develops and validates test metrology, performance-testing methods, and application processes for next‑generation electronic materials—including sintered nanomaterials. The role is hands-on and lab-centric, spanning DOE design, process optimization, structure–property correlation, and failure/defect analysis. The engineer will own data integrity, documentation discipline, and ISO/EHS compliance, while collaborating across global, cross‑functional teams to accelerate technology readiness and product qualification.
What will you be doing?
- Design and develop innovative test methods, fixtures, and test vehicles for advanced material characterization.
- Plan and execute DOEs to establish process windows and optimize application processes (e.g., printing, dispensing, sintering, reflow).
- Build or adapt specialized testing instrumentation and ensure alignment with industry standards.
- Conduct systematic, safe laboratory experiments and engineering tests (electrical, thermal, mechanical, metallographic).
- Support structure–property correlation studies through rigorous material characterization and data analysis.
- Apply Six Sigma and statistical tools (ANOVA, MSA, FMEA, RCA) to analyze results and drive process decisions.
- Perform defect inspection, failure mode analysis, and root‑cause investigations with corrective/preventive action proposals.
- Operate and maintain key lab equipment, including reflow ovens, sinter presses, printers, environmental chambers, die‑shear testers, and probing systems.
- Prepare technical reports, SOPs, presentations, and customer‑ready performance summaries.
- Manage inventory, sample builds, tooling/jigs, and coordinate packaging/shipment of materials and test samples.
- Ensure ISO‑compliant documentation, strong EHS practices, 5S discipline, and continuous improvement of lab processes.
Who are You?
- Diploma/B.E./M.E./M.Tech in Electronics, Telecommunications, Materials Science, or related fields.
- 5+ years of experience in board assembly (eg. SMT), electronic board manufacturing processes, and/or semiconductor material processing.
- Hands‑on experience in application process development and performance testing of electronic materials, with strong knowledge of material processing, assembly methods, and engineering test techniques.
- Experience operating and maintaining stencil printers, dispensing equipment, reflow ovens, sinter presses, environmental chambers, die‑shear testers, and electrical test systems.
- Exposure to metallographic sample preparation for optical/SEM analysis.
- Proficiency with data tools is required (Excel and Minitab), while familiarity/hands-on with other tools such as LabVIEW, Python/MATLAB, and CAD platforms like AutoCAD, Fusion 360, or SolidWorks will be considered a plus.
What competencies will you need?
- Working knowledge of industry standards and acceptance criteria (e.g., IPC/JEDEC—preferred but not mandatory).
- Practical understanding of statistical tools (DOE, ANOVA, MSA, FMEA) and root‑cause methodologies (Ishikawa/Fishbone/5‑Why).
- Understanding of ISO quality systems, documentation discipline, and EHS practices.
- Strong attention to detail with consistent, traceable documentation habits.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Clear verbal and written communication suited for a global, cross‑cultural environment.
