MacDermid Enthone Industrial Solutions is a global supplier of industrial metal and plastic finishing chemistries.  We primarily design and manufacture chemical systems that protect and decorate surfaces. Our high-performance functional coatings improve resistance to wear and tear, such as hard chrome plating of shock absorbers for cars or provide corrosion resistance for appliance parts. Our decorative performance coatings apply finishes for parts in various end markets such as automotive interiors or jewelry surfaces. As part of our broader sustainable solutions platform, we also provide both chemistry and equipment for turnkey wastewater treatment and recycle and reuse solutions. Job Purpose

The R&D Scientist will be responsible for the preparation and testing of next-generation materials and product formulations under the supervision of a Formulation Development Scientist to support various product development projects and initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Undertake preparation and characterization of new product formulations under the supervision of a Product Development Scientist.
  • He/She will have responsibility for working independently to produce and evaluate a range of formulations in accordance with target product specifications.
  • He/She is expected to have full familiarity with standard chemistry lab tools and practices and be capable of working independently.
  • He/She expected to conduct experiments in the laboratory and apply scientific practices and knowledge for product testing and evaluation. Be able to undertake scientific experiments and engineering testing in the laboratory in a systematic and safe manner.
  • He/She is expected to keep record of tests results and prepare reports of all evaluation as per the standard format.
  • He/She is expected to manage inventory of raw materials, test vehicles and other consumables required during product development and testing.
  • He/She will need to have good communication and presentation skills and be willing to work in a R&D environment.
  • He/She is expected to maintain record of observations and run conditions during batch production. Record quality test results. Produces necessary reports and new SOPs.

Requirements

  • Technical degree in Chemistry or Material Science is strongly preferred.  Two years of relevant hands-on experience in the electroplating industry is preferred.
  • Good spoken and written English. 
  • Good PC skills, esp. Microsoft Office products.  Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) is a plus, but not an absolute requirement.  A willingness to learn how to function in new IT systems is required.

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Chemistry
