Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a proactive Purchasing Specialist to join our team at the Ashby site. In this role, you will be responsible for managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and delivering sourcing strategies that support our overall business objectives. You’ll oversee the inward supply of production commodities as well as non-production goods and services, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and compliance with company standards. 

What will you be doing?

  • Interpret production plans and forecasts to support and execute business manufacturing requirements.
  • Devise Source Plans strategies, which are consistent with the overall Purchasing strategy and designed to support the implementation of brand/business plans.  Lead cross functional teams to develop Source Plans.
  • Negotiate and agree terms and conditions with suppliers in line with company policies.
  • Act as the Purchasing team member responsible for a particular sector of the business, involved in new product development, product launches and other activities as appropriate.  Share this information with other members of the Purchasing team as necessary and manage their timely input.
  • Prepare budgets by forecasting future prices based on analysis of market information and agree with Purchasing Manager.
  • Resolution of quality, cost and delivery issues.
  • Facilitate the supplier correction action report process (SCAR).
  • Liaise with the Accounts Payable department to resolveinvoice queries.
  • Monitor price performance versus budget and actuals.
  • Report price performance and other relevant quality/market issues to relevant stakeholders.
  • Research and identify alternative supply sources for existing or new goods and services to ensure continuity of supply and improve brand profitability, team working as necessary.
  • Conduct visits to suppliers in order to appraise production capabilities and to determine commercial viability.

Who are You?

Ideally, you will have:

  • Previous purchasing/procurement experience is essential.

  • CIPS qualification (or equivalent) desirable.

  • Experienced ERP system user (preferably JDE).

  • Skilled in collating and reporting data for analysis.

  • Experienced in using MRP systems.

  • Sector experience in chemicals or packaging procurement is highly desirable.
