Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and organized R&D & AI Enablement Intern to join our team this summer. This internship offers hands-on experience at the intersection of research, data science, and applied AI, along with the opportunity to contribute to impactful innovation projects.
The ideal candidate is curious, analytical, and motivated, with a strong interest in leveraging data and machine learning techniques to solve real-world product development challenges. You should be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary environment.
What will you be doing?
- Mine and structure product-specific datasets to support advanced analytics and modeling efforts
- Develop a recommendation engine for formulations by identifying similarities across products using techniques such as clustering, embeddings, and dimensionality reduction (e.g., t-SNE)
- Build and evaluate models that map input parameters to optimized formulation outputs
Analyze experimental datasets to predict key properties of final products using statistical and machine learning approaches - Collaborate with R&D and cross-functional teams to translate business and scientific problems into data-driven solutions
- Prepare reports, visualizations, and documentation to communicate insights and model performance
- Participate in team meetings, contributing ideas and documenting key action items
Support ongoing AI and data enablement initiatives across the organization
Who are You?
- Currently enrolled in a college or university; juniors and seniors are especially encouraged to apply
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship requirements
- Local to the internship site and able to commute reliably
- Available to work full-time onsite and commit to the full duration of the internship program
- Pursuing a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Statistics, or a related field (or strong interest in applied AI within R&D environments)
What competencies will you need?
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Familiarity with machine learning concepts such as clustering, embeddings, and predictive modeling - Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., Python, pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, or similar)
Understanding of data visualization and dimensionality reduction techniques (e.g., t-SNE, PCA) is a plus - Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace applications
